About Focused on Light
This is nothing more then a casual photoblog by Stephen DesRoches. I live on a small island in atlantic Canada where I work full time with the design team of silverorange where I also sometimes get a small bit of credit for the Firefox brand. Photography is only a hobby of mine and nothing more which also means my photography experience is very limited.
Why Focused on Light
Without focus, the world would be a blur and without light, there would be nothing to focus on. Vistek defines focus as the position in which rays of light from a lens converge to form a sharp image. More importantly, it was one of a very few available domains after months of looking.
Copyright, Prints & Usage
Copyright is very difficult to enforce when I'm openly sharing photos. To make things easy, all my photos are released under a Creative Commons License for the resolutions displayed on this site. My only request is to see the finished results and how they were used. This is something always agreed on but something I rarely see.
What about prints and high res files? I am not in the business of selling prints or raw negatives but if there is a photo you would like, please contact me (details below) and I'll do what I can.
Equipment I Use
My current camera is a Canon Digital Rebel XT SLR with a 17-40mm (27-64mm), 70-200mm (112-320mm) and 100mm (160mm) macro lens. If I am traveling light, I have a Canon Powershot SD200 that fits easily in my pocket.
I do not own or work in a controlled lighting studio. My studio is a desk. Here you will find a MacBook powering an external 20" Display and 6x8 Intuos3 tablet with Photoshop CS3, Illustrator CS3, Lightroom 1.3 and skEdit.
