Piping Plover
The day before setting day, I had an idea on where I wanted to be for the boat departures at 6am but it required hiking the 11km round trip length of the Cavendish Dunes. Along the way on this scouting adventure, one Piping Plover was spotted.
Today’s Image – Piping Plover
The little endangered bird that Parks Canada and the Island Nature Trust are trying so hard to protect. While skittish, this guy was fully focused on lunch.
A tilted head, listening along the sand, before the pounce and grab.
It’s a rare occasion when a bird is so focused on eating, I’m the one that decides to leave first.

these are just awesome.
Great job Stephen!!!
My favourite is the one with the plover pulling the worm out of the sand while running :)
These are amazing images Stephen. I’ve forward the link to my local Audubon Society. We have a protected area for Piping Plovers near where I live.
I love the 3rd one, just skipping along!
Great shots! Really, just wonderful. Thanks for sharing.
